The Brief

Tin Man commissioned us to deliver a photography shoot for EDF, a Principal Partner of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. The campaign featured Scottish gymnasts Aaron Convery and Indira Williams performing outside Riverside Museum in Glasgow at sunset, creating a visual story around EDF’s research into the quieter, off-peak moments when many people feel happiest. Our role was to appoint and brief a photographer capable of working confidently in low-light conditions, while capturing dynamic, editorial-ready imagery that linked the athletes, the location and EDF’s message. The objective was to encourage households to use electricity outside peak times, helping reduce energy costs while generating timely media interest around the upcoming Games.

Challenge & Solution

The shoot was scheduled at sunset, creating a narrow window in which to capture the gymnasts’ movements while maintaining image clarity and visual impact in low light. We selected photographer Sandy Young for his ability to work confidently in these conditions and provided a detailed brief covering the late-night schedule, the large on-site crew and coordination with external lighting technicians. The creative treatment kept the athletes at the centre of the story, using dynamic performances and costumes that subtly reflected EDF’s branding without overpowering the imagery. This balance helped produce authentic, news-led photography suitable for national and regional editorial use.
