The Brief

Bolton and Quinn commissioned PA Media Assignments to photograph the unveiling of Lady in Blue, the latest artwork installed on Trafalgar Square’s Fourth Plinth in London. The sculpture formed the 16th commission in the long-running Fourth Plinth programme and paid homage to young metropolitan women, reflecting the diversity of modern London. As a high-profile public unveiling attended by multiple photographers and media, the brief was to capture distinctive, editorial-ready imagery of both the artwork and the artist, helping the story stand out and secure strong print coverage

Challenge & Solution

With several photographers covering the unveiling, the challenge was to create imagery that would compete strongly for editorial attention while telling a complete visual story. We focused not only on the sculpture itself but also on capturing the artist, helping give the coverage a more human dimension. To strengthen the editorial package further, our team contacted a PA journalist in advance, who produced supporting copy to accompany the photography. Combining eye-catching imagery with a ready-to-use news story gave editors a stronger overall package and increased the opportunity for the photographs to be selected for publication.

Results

The photography achieved strong print coverage across 11 titles. The client also provided very positive feedback on the photographer and the quality of the work delivered, reinforcing the success of both the imagery and the wider editorial approach.
